Journey Through the Brandon River

I am a frequent kayaker during my free time and each time I go out I also try to pursue a new place to explore. This was my first time out on the Brandon River and was shockingly empty to tourists besides the quiet homes that resided on the perimeter of the river. I was very surprised to see so much active wildlife which was a first for me. After visiting this place I have a hard time even comparing Mayakka park to it. The abundance of wildlife was unbelievable which actually I thought was rare around the area. Going back to reading about the goals and intentions of the Florida Wildlife Conservation Project, I would have no doubt that the expansion of wildlife will flourish like the little bit of land that I got to see on my lovely day trip. After talking to some people who lived on the river also had a much more respected outlook to the animals they shared their home with which is the next step to informing all of the public that lives in Florida.

The Big One

This is my friends gator skull that he had killed some years back, I thought it would be nice to include this into my documentation prior to my trip.

Gopher Turtle

First creature of the day to be spotted before kayaking . . . cute little guy

Vulture

Just one of a few hundred of these guys I saw on my trip. I actually scared a bunch of them chilling out by the water; luckily I did not get puked on!

Some More Exploring

These are just a few pictures of some interesting shots I got underneath peoples docks that I thought looked neat :)

Caught In the Rain

The beginning of our kayaking trip started off well by which I mean I had jinxed myself and a thunder storm rolled in ten minutes into the trip. It was very nice though, these are a few pictures of the tree my friend and I climbed up in while waiting for the storm to pass. It was the true essence of Florida.

Teenage Gator

Towards the end of the kayaking trip someone who lived on the river caught this tough guy right by his house. First time I have seen a live catch; don't worry he was released after I had gotten to look at it!

River Otters

I was quickly trying to get my camera out each time they surfaced, hard to see but there was a mother otter and two babies who were learning how to fish.
